◆The Lion’s Walkway◆ Neo Su Yu
Recently I took a day off and went to Obi town, a place 1.5
hours by train away from Miyazaki City. Obi is known as Kyushu’s
“Little Kyoto”. The architecture of buildings are very much
like that of the Edo period, and I almost felt like I sat on a
time machine and went back two or three hundred years ago. Obi
Castle itself is an interesting place. You can study about Obi’s
history and see interesting artifacts such as well-preserved
samurai armour and swords. In the carpark outside the castle
there is a little archery shooting ground. The form of archery
is different from regular Kyudo – it’s known as the Shihanmato.
For 300 yen you get to shoot 10 arrows and get a free souvenir.
If you are interested in getting pamphlets and maps, you could
go to this site and fill up your particulars:

Remember to take some pictures for the Miyazaki International
Art Festival! :D
