Floral Hot Spots in Miyazaki(March,2008 )

From cherry blossoms to other springtime flowers, this month we will introduce some of Miyazaki’s best locales to enjoy the flora.The blooming of the cherry blossoms in Japan marks the opening of the viewing season, with parties held at parks all around. Miyazaki is abundant in such venues, so it should be easy to find one near your home as well. 


Cherry Blossom Venues:typically in bloom through early April.

Mochio Park,Kannonike Park (Miyakonojo City)

Hanadate Park (Kitago Town)  

Saitobaru Burial Mounds (Saito City)

Amagajo Park,Tarumizu Park,

Hisamine Park,Tenjinyama Park

(All Miyazaki City)

Hokedake Park (Kunitomi Town) 

Shiroyama Park(Nobeoka City),etc.

Azaleas: Shiibae Park (Mimata Town); Mid April - Late April

Irises: Hayamizu Park (Miyakonojo City); Late April - Early May

Japanese Irises: Shimin-no-Mori (Miyazaki City); Mid May - Early June

Iceland Poppy: Ikoma Plateau (Kobayashi city); Mid April - Late May


Finally, the annual Flower Festival,“FLOWER FESTA is currently underway and will continue until May 11th. There are ten venues, including “Kodomo-no- Kuni,” “Florante Miyazaki,” and “Aoshima Subtropical Botanical Garden,” which offer a varying array of colorful flowers and events to enjoy (some venues require an entrance fee).
