■Re-entry Permission

　Foreign residents may temporarily leave Japan to go on vacation or visit their home country, intending to return to Japan afterward. Obtaining a re-entry permit before leaving the country will enable you to re-enter Japan via a simpler procedure, saving you from having to apply for a new visa. Your past visa status and period of residence will remain unchanged.

　Keep in mind that you can not apply for a re-entry permit at overseas diplomatic offices after leaving Japan. Furthermore, short-stay residents can not apply for a re-entry permit.

 

○Required Documents

（１）Application for re-entry 　(２) Passport　(３)Alien registration card

（４）Identification （required when a deputy or agent submits your application）

*In addition to the above documents, other accompanying documents may be required.

 

○Fees： *Payment must be made in revenue stamps (Inshi)

　（Single-entry） 3,000yen;　（Multiple-entry） 6,000yen

 

○How to Apply： Prepare the required documents and submit them to the Regional Immigration Bureau or a branch office with jurisdiction over your area of residence. In principal, applications are to be submitted by the applicant in person. However, if the applicant is under sixteen years-old, or he/she can not visit the bureau office due to illness, a family member can submit the application in the applicant’s place. Similarly, a representative agent can also apply if necessary.
