Autumn is the Season for Outdoor Excursions

It is starting to feel like autumn. In Japan, autumn is a good season for a variety of activities, and is known as "The Season of Appetite," "The Season for Reading," "The Season for Sports," and "The Season for Art." It is also a good season for taking trips. So, this month we will offer you some information about autumn events in Miyazaki. (Direct inquiries need to be made in Japanese.)

Cosmos Blossoms

At Ikoma-Kougen (Kobayashi City)

Mid-September to the end of October
Normal Hours: 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Mountain Hiking on Karakuni-Dake

You can hike from the Ebino Plateau to Karakuni-Dake, the highest mountain in Kirishima. The hike takes about three hours round trip, and there are several hot spring baths nearby.
Car Park: Beside "Ebino-Kougen Rest Center" (The fee is 410 yen, and is used for nature preservation.)

Ise-ebi(Lobster)

The season for catching Ise-ebi opened on September 1st, so you can enjoy them fresh. These Ise-ebi events will be taking place in Nobeoka and Nichinan Cities.

Nobeoka Tengaichi Takigi Noh

Noh is a form of Japanese traditional drama. "Tengaichi" was a famous noh mask craftsmen who lived during the Momoyama Period and the beginning of the Edo Period. 30 noh masks made by him are preserved in Nobeoka City. The most highly esteemed noh actors wear Tengaichi's masks to perform in this event.
